Federico Robles was on the Argentinian national team in the 2015 South American Championship. In the 2016 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he was 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA to tie for the tourney lead in wins with pitchers from more notable baseball countries (South Korea, Taiwan and Australia). He beat Austria and South Africa.
In the 2016 South American Championship, he was Argentina's top hurler. In his first outing, he pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings versus Peru (2 BB). He got a crucial relief win in the semifinals against defending champion Colombia to send Argentina to the Gold Medal game. Relieving Federico Tanco in the 10th with a 9-9 tie, he fared better than the two former minor leaguers who preceded him on the hill, with a 1-2-3 10th as Argentina won. In the finale, he pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings (1 H, 1 BB) versus Brazil as the only Argentinian pitcher to have a good day; the other four hurlers allowed 10 runs in a loss as Argentina wound up with a Silver.
Robles had a 6.00 ERA in the 2018 South American Championship, highest on Argentina, pitching both of his games against defending champion Brazil. He gave up six hits and two runs in three innings while striking out two and walking none.
