Biographical Information[edit]
Larry Bennese was a trainer in the minor leagues for many years, working from 1989 to 2018. Teams he worked for include the Gulf Coast League Mets (1990), Kingsport Mets (1991), Pittsfield Mets (1992), St. Lucie Mets (1993-1995), GCL Twins (1996-1998), Fort Myers Miracle (1999-2010), New Britain Rock Cats (2011-2012), Rochester Red Wings (2013-2017) and Daytona Tortugas (2018). He was the Florida State League Trainer of the Year in 1995, 1999, 2000, 2003 and 2005, the Eastern League Trainer of the Year in 2012 and the International League Trainer of the Year in 2014. He won seven Trainer of the Year honors in total. In 2017, he was the trainer for the International League All-Star team. His 1989 club is unknown.
He joined the Minnesota Twins system in 1996, working as a rehabilitation coordinator at their minor league complex, as well as the GCL Twins' trainer. In 2006 and 2009, he was trainer for the Mesa Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League. In 2009, he was Team Australia's trainer in the World Baseball Classic. In 2017 and 2018, he worked with the Chinese Olympic women's softball team. He spent more than 20 years in the Twins organization, before joining the Cincinnati Reds organization in 2018.
He later worked as a certified athletic trainer at the University of Rochester following his tenure in baseball.
