Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Kurt Wunderlich has played in the minors.

He was 3-2 with a 5.67 ERA and a save as a college freshman then fell to 5-5, 6.05 as a sophomore. His junior year, he became a starter and did much better (8-3, 4.28). As a senior, he went 10-2 with a 3.19 ERA, leading the Big Ten Conference in wins. He became the first Michigan State player to win Big Ten Pitcher of the Year.

He was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 20th round of the 2011 amateur draft. The scout was Rich Sparks. Kurt made his pro debut that summer with the Vermont Lake Monsters, going 2-5 with a 5.33 ERA in 14 games. Back with Vermont in 2012, he was 0-1 with a 7.64 ERA in 6 outings before being released. He spent the latter part of that summer with the Traverse City Beach Bums of the independent Frontier League, going 3-0 with a 4.35 ERA.
