Kento Watanabe has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Watanabe He was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the first round of the 2020 NPB draft after they lost the lottery for the rights to Takahisa Hayakawa; the scout was Jun Takeshita. He hit .228/.306/.466 with 19 homers in the Eastern League in 2021, and he tied Kotaro Kiyomiya for the homer lead and led in RBI (64, four ahead of Kiyomiya). Watanabe also went 1-for-16 with the big club. He then crushed 10 homers in the minors in 2022 (tying Zelous Wheeler for 8th in the EL), but his batting line fell to .184/.295/.321. Watanabe crushed 6 homers with a .214/.273/.375 batting line for the top team in 2023, but he struggled there as he only went 1-for-33 in 2024. He also played 98 games with 11 homers in the minor league, and his batting line was .247/.360/.425. His 22 doubles were second (five behind Daito Yamamoto), he tied Uta Sakaguchi for 4th in homers, he ranked 5th in RBI (48) and he was 6th in walks (also 48).
