Biographical Information

Outfielder Kenny Wilson played in the minor leagues from 2008 to 2019. He reached affiliated Triple-A in parts of four seasons, but never ascended to the majors.

He was taken by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2nd round of the 2008 amateur draft, a couple picks after pitcher Josh Lindblom and ahead of future All-Star Charlie Blackmon. He was signed by scout Joel Grampietro. Though a low-average hitter—he didn't bat better than .211 in any of his first four seasons—he had good speed, swiping 40 bases two years in a row, 2009 and 2010. In 2012, he had a career-high of 55, and he also posted totals of 37 (2015), 31 (2014) and 30 (2016). He was a MiLB.com Organization All-Star in 2015.

He remained in the Blue Jays system into 2014. He then became a traveler, with stays in the Oakland Athletics, Minnesota Twins, Miami Marlins and Detroit Tigers systems over the next few years. In 2018, he played for the independent Chicago Dogs, hitting .318/.380/.493 with 6 home runs, 26 RBI and 13 steals in 55 games. He last played in the Mexican League in 2019.

He reached Triple-A for the first time in 2014 and hit .219/.303/.282 in 209 affiliated Triple-A games in his career.

His career also included stops in the Australian Baseball League, Arizona Fall League and Mexican Pacific Winter League.

Overall, Wilson hit .248/.337/.350 with 51 home runs, 409 RBI and 375 stolen bases in 1,209 games over 12 seasons at all levels. He wasn't often a league leader, though he did pace the Gulf Coast League in strikeouts in 2008 with 60 and the Southern League in plate appearances with 570 in 2015. He was second in the Southern League in runs scored that year with 77, behind Tim Anderson's 79.
