The Havana native had a better campaign in 2009, again starring for Dunedin (6-3, 2.43, .227 opponent average) but holding his own this time with New Hampshire (4-5, 4.50, .251 opponent average). Had he qualified, he would have been third in the FSL in ERA. The right-hander performed badly in 2010 with Dunedin - 3-1, 8.57 ERA, 2.14 WHIP. He was 39-42 with 7 saves and a 4.67 ERA in 153 minor league games (101 starts). He fanned 517 in 614 2/3 innings, walked 283 and allowed 634 hits.
Rodriguez starred for the Peru national team in the 2013 Bolivarian Games, fanning 16 in one of their two wins (over a Guatemalan national team with several former or future minor leaguers). He was 1-0 with a 0.73 ERA, 21 K, 4 H and 3 BB in 12 1/3 IP in the event, getting the lone win for Peru; he also played third base and went 3 for 11 with two doubles, second on the team in slugging and third in average.
