Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Keith Kimberlin played in the Detroit Tigers system from 1989 to 1991 and the Philadelphia Phillies system from 1993 to 1994. Though he peaked briefly at Triple-A (37 at-bats), he never ascended to the majors.

He was taken by the Tigers in the 20th round of the 1989 amateur draft, a couple picks after future Hall of Famer Jeff Kent. He stole 15 and 16 bases his first and second seasons, respectively, then in 1993, he stole 19 bags. In his only taste of Triple-A, in 1994, he hit .108/.190/.135 in 20 games for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons. In 1989, he tied Will Pennyfeather and Bobby Reimink for the New York-Penn League in games played with 75. He also led the league in sacrifice hits with 11 and was second in plate appearances with 338, behind Reimink's 344. In 1990, he led the Florida State League in sacrifice hits with 21. He again led a league in sac hits in 1993, this time the Eastern League. He had 11. He was also second in games played (137), behind Butch Huskey's 139 and in plate appearances (580), behind Huskey's 584.

Overall, Kimberlin hit .245/.321/.311 with 7 home runs, 128 RBI and 55 stolen bases in 482 games.
