Biographical Information

Kazuo Hayasaka played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.

Hayakawa was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the 3rd round of the 1984 NPB draft, and he was 5-for-30 in 1985. He went 0-for-11 in 1986, and he took the starting right fielder spot in 1987. Hayakawa played 57 games with a .278/.339/.396 batting line that season, then he slumped to .227/.331/.318 in 1988 and Shinichi Igarashi took his spot. He went 1-for-6 in 1989, and the Fighters traded him with Yukio Tanaka to the Chunichi Dragons for Yasuharu Fujio and Yoshihisa Komatsuzaki. Hayakawa went 5-for-13 in 1990, and he was 5-for-22 in 1991. He had a 3-for-12 record in 1993, and he announced his retirement. He later coached in the Dragons system from 1997 to 2000 and from 2003 to 2018.

Overall, Hayakawa hit .244/.326/.330 with 91 hits and 4 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
