Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Kade Morris had a rough major league debut for The Athletics against the Houston Astros on June 6, 2026. After allowing a 1st-inning run, he was touched for 5 runs in the 2nd on a solo homer by LaMonte Wade Jr. and a grand slam by Yordan Álvarez, then he gave up another run in the 3rd, and allowed a lead-off homer to José Altuve in the 5th, before the next batter reached base as well. He was removed from the game at that point, but the inherited runner scored as well, so his final line was 9 runs allowed on 9 hits and 3 walks in 4 innings. He was charged with the A's 13-2 loss.

Kade was originally drafted by the New York Mets in the3rd round of the 2023 amateur draft out of the University of Nevada, where he had gone 4-7, 5.42 in his junior season. He started his professional career that same year, making one start each with the FCL Mets and the St. Lucie Mets. In 2024, he pitched for four different teams, starting with St. Lucie in the Florida State League. After 7 games, he was promoted to the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones, then on July 30th was treated to what were then the Oakland Athletics in return for major league reliever Paul Blackburn. His next stop was the Lansing Lugnuts, still at High-A but in the Midwest League, and on September 11th he received a late-season promotion to the AAA Las Vegas Aviators, where he made 2 appearances. Overall, he went 4-13, 4.50 in 27 games (24 starts) with 1 save and 121 strikeouts in 136 games. In 2025, he split his time between the AA Midland RockHounds and Las Vegas and finished at 9-10, 4.38 in 28 games and 150 innings. In 2026, he was 5-3, 4.45 in 11 starts for the Aviators before getting the call to West Sacramento, CA, the temporary home base of the Athletics.
