Biographical Information[edit]
Jun Maeda has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Maeda was drafted by the Softbank Hawks in the 10th round of the development phase in the 2022 NPB draft; the scout was Ryota Kato. He only pitched one game in the minors in 2023, and he went 10-4 with a 1.95 ERA in 2024. He tied Yuta Matsukihira for the led in wins in the Western League, and he was 3rd in ERA (between Matsukihira and Shohei Mori) and 4th in strikeouts (tied with Junya Nishi and Hidetoshi Ibaraki). Maeda got his first win on September 29, and he was the lowest-drafted player to get a win in NPB history. He pitched 2 shutout innings in the 2024 Nippon Series Game 2, but he allowed a 3-run home run to Shugo Maki in Game 5. The Yokohama BayStars beat the Hawks in 6 games.
