Biographical Information[edit]

Joel Green played for the USA national baseball team and in the minor leagues.

Green was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 44th round of the 1967 Amateur Draft, but he refused to sign and went to college. He represented the USA in the 1969 Amateur World Series. The Chicago Cubs picked him in the 2nd round of the 1971 Amateur Draft, and he hit .199/.277/.223 in 43 games for the San Antonio Missions in his first season. Green then recorded a .257/.350/.346 batting line with 14 steals for the Quincy Cubs in 1972, and he collected 17 doubles with a .286/.354/.352 batting line for the Midland Cubs in 1973. He played 70 games with a .257/.341/.298 batting line in Midland in 1974, and he was 6-for-26 with the AAA Wichita Aeros. Green then recorded a .222/.316/.299 batting line in 38 games in Midland in 1975, and he also hit .289/.401/.342 in 50 games in AAA level. That was his last season as a professional player.
