Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Joe Rock was a second-round pick of the Colorado Rockies in the 2021 amateur draft; his signing bonus was $953,100. He was the second pitcher the Rockies organization took in that round, the first being Jaden Hill.

He was 8-3 with a 2.94 ERA and 11.9 K/9 IP ratio in his final year at Ohio University in 2021, then 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA in 8 innings for the ACL Rockies in his pro debut. Between the Spokane Indians and Hartford Yard Goats in 2022, he was 7-8 with a 4.82 ERA in 22 starts. In 115 2/3 innings, he allowed 120 hits. In 2023, he split his time between Hartford and the AAA Albuquerque Isotopes, going a combined 1-10, 4.66 in 20 starts. On March 21, 2024, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays in return for IF/OF Greg Jones, in a trade of former top picks who had raw skills, but had not yet been able to put it all together in the minor leagues.

He spent the 2024 season pitching for the Durham Bulls, the Rays' AAA affiliate in the International League, going 7-8, 4.58 in 27 games. He started 2025 back with the Bulls, and was 3-5, 4.81 after 15 games when he was called up to Tampa Bay. In his debut on June 28th, he pitched 2 innings in relief to finish an 11-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles, giving up 2 runs, both coming on a home run by Ramon Laureano.
