Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Jim Jarvis was drafted in the 11th round of the 2023 amateur draft by the Detroit Tigers out of the University of Alabama.
He played in the Tigers system from 2023 to 2025. He was at AA with the Erie Sea Wolves when he was traded to the Atlanta Braves on July 31, 2025 in return for major league reliever Rafael Montero. He was assigned to the Columbus Clingstones of the Southern League after the trade, then on August 25th was promoted to the AAA Gwinnett Stripers. Overall, he played 101 games between the three stops, with a slash line of .249/.324/.347, with 2 homers and 37 RBIs.
He started 2026 back at Gwinnett, where he hit .305 in his first 33 games, with 4 homers and 20 RBIs. He was called up to Atlanta on May 6th and started at shortstop that day against the Seattle Mariners, batting 9th. He went 0 for 2 with a strikeout before being replaced by pinch-hitter Dominic Smith in the 8th inning in a game the Braves lost, 3-1.
Two of his brothers have played professional baseball: Luke Jarvis played one minor league season in 2018, and Mike Jarvis had been playing in the minors since 2021.
