Biographical Information[edit]
Jeff Love played on Team USA then spent 8 years as a pro pitcher.
Love was at St. John's in 1995, when they served as the US entry in the 1995 Pan American Games. [1] The next year, he had a 7-3, 2.91 record for them, finishing 4th in the Big East Conference in ERA. [2] He split that summer between the St. Louis Cardinals' New Jersey Jackals affiliate (2-2, 6.46 in 17 G) and the Newburgh Night Hawks (2 R in 5 IP). In the indy leagues in 1997, he was 4-1 with a 4.25 ERA for the Waterbury Spirit. Signing with the Houston Astros organization, he went 3-2 with 3 saves and a 2.89 ERA for the 1998 Kissimmee Cobras.
With the 1999 Cobras, he fell to 2-3, 6.66. Returning to the indies, he went 7-5 with a 3.24 ERA for the Lehigh Valley Black Diamonds. He split 2000 between the Bridgeport Bluefish (0-1, 7.89 in 9 G) and Newark Bears (7-5, 4.43). He was 5-6 with 3 saves and a 4.90 ERA for the 2001 Camden Riversharks. He had a 1-2, 4.62 record for the 2002 Riversharks. He allowed 3 runs (2 earned) in 2 innings for the 2003 Bluefish. Overall, he had gone 31-27 with 6 saves and a 4.47 ERA in 225 games as a pro.
