Biographical Information

Jason Rogers pitched in the Baltimore Orioles system from 1994 to 1999. Though he briefly (10 innings) played at Triple-A, he never ascended to the majors.

He was drafted twice. Initially, he was taken by the Texas Rangers in the 62nd round of the 1991 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. He was next taken by the Orioles in the 4th round of the 1994 amateur draft, one pick ahead of pitcher Jeremy Powell, and inked a contract. He was signed by scout Ed Sprague. He had a 2.31 ERA in 9 games (8 starts) for the Bluefield Orioles in 1994, but had only one season with an ERA under 4.50 after that. His succeeding ERAs were 5.22, 5.48, 5.73, 3.40 and 4.57, respectively. The year he had a 3.40 mark, 1998, he also had a solid 1.122 WHIP in 55 relief appearances between the Frederick Keys and Bowie Baysox. In his only taste of Triple-A, in 1999, he had a 8.10 ERA in 9 relief appearances for the Rochester Red Wings.

Overall, Rogers went 19-28 with a 4.73 ERA in 167 games (50 starts). In 412 2/3 innings, he allowed 424 hits and 225 walks (1.573 WHIP), while striking out 304 batters.
