Pitcher Jacob Dorris played college ball at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi for four years before joining the Houston Astros organization as a non-drafted free agent in 2015. Dorris played in the Astros minor league system until his release during the 2018 season. He reached AAA in his final two seasons.
The New York Mets hired Dorris in 2019. Dorris' LinkedIn profile lists him as a Mets pitching analyst from 2019-2023.[1]. However, Mets' media guides during this period provide different titles. In 2020, Dorris was listed as an Analyst, Baseball Research & Development. In both 2022 and 2023 his title was Data Tech Scout.
Dorris joined the Chicago White Sox organization in 2024 as a pitching coach for the ACL White Sox. He received a promotion to the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers in 2025 and Winston-Salem Dash in 2026. After the 2025 season, Dorris was the pitching coach for the Glendale Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League.
