Haruki Hosono has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Hosono was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters and Chiba Lotte Marines in the first round of the 2023 NPB draft, and the Fighters won the lottery for the rights to him; the scout was Koichi Sakamoto.[1] He debuted against the Hanshin Tigers on June 18, 2024, and he got his first strikeout against Ryo Watanabe. He and Yuya Shinto were the first pair of rookies to start as the battery in Tokyu/Toei/Nippon-Ham history since Takehiko Kumagami and Taju Hitokoto in 1946. Hosono ended up having a 3.86 ERA in 2 starts in his first season, and he went 1-0 with a 1.27 ERA in the NPB Farm Leagues.
Hosono's repertoire included a fastball (peak 98.1 mph), a slider, forkball, cutter, curveball and changeup.
