Biographical Information[edit]
Gustav Öijen has been on the Swedish national team.
In the 2024 U18 European Championship, he was 0-2 with a 11.87 ERA, losing to Great Britain and Israel; he went 3 for 8 with two walks, two runs and two RBI on offense. [1] Making it to the senior team by the 2025 European Championship, he was their youngest player; Emil Fagerlund was born one year prior. He was the top Swedish hurler in their 10-0 loss to Bronze Medalist Czechia. Relieving Moisses Pargas in the 6th with a 9-0 deficit and one out, he struck out former minor leaguer Vojtěch Menšík and Martin Mužík to end the inning. In the 7th, he went 1-2-3 against Marek Krejčiřík, Matěj Menšík and Max Prejda. He walked Milan Prokop to open the 8th then Willie Escala hit into a force. Following a walk to Michal Šindelka, Alex Barrett took over and let in an inherited run to end the game due to the mercy rule. His other game, things did not go as well; replacing Per Sjörs in the 6th with one out, one on and a 1-0 lead over Austria in the 9th/10th place game, he allowed five hits and five runs (four earned) in 1 1/3 IP before giving way to Oskar Syrén; he took the loss to Vitus Gneist.
