Biographical Information[edit]

Giovanny Rivero has played in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team.

Signed by the Minnesota Twins, he hit .213/.302/.280 for the 2021 DSL Twins, fielding .959 as their main backstop and throwing out 29%. He improved to .988 for the 2022 FCL Twins but was 2-for-28 with four walks on offense. In '23, he hit .186/.314/.186 for the FCL Twins, followed by .148/.303/.222 to finish his pro career at .173/.287/.214 in 79 games, having fielded .971 at catcher and thrown out 28%.

In the 2024 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he produced at a .333/.545/.533 rate with 6 walks in 7 games for Venezuela, fielding .981 and throwing out 17.6%. He was 8th in putouts (43), tied for 7th in walks and tied Qirui Wu for 9th in OBP. [1] He remained with Venezuela for the 2025 Bolivarian Games, batting .250/.474/.583 with four walks, four runs and four RBI in five games for the Bronze Medalists, homering off Julio Vivas of champion Colombia. He fielded .944 and allowed a steal in the lone try, splitting time between catcher and DH. He was 5th in slugging (between Wilkerman Garcia and Shendrion Martinus), 8th in OBP (between Garcia and Daniel Vellojin), 6th in OPS (between Garcia and Raiwinson Lameda) and tied for 9th in walks.
