Gary Leon Melson

Pitcher Gary Melson was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 15th round of the 1975 amateur draft. He made it to AAA in the Indians chain in 1978-1979, but did not get called up to the majors. On February 15, 1980, Melson was traded by the Cleveland Indians to the Atlanta Braves for Don Collins. He had a 2.85 ERA for the 1980 Richmond Braves but again did not get called up. He struggled in AA in 1981 (0-4, 10.20) to end his career.

Melson was a minor league teammate of Ron Hassey, who was born the exact same day, from 1976 to 1979.
