Biographical Information[edit]

Fuminori Yokogawa played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years

Yokogawa represented Japan in the 2006 World University Baseball Championship. He was drafted by the Rakuten Golden Eagles in the 4th round the 2006 NPB draft, and he crushed 5 homers with a .207 batting average in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2007. He also hit .313/.385/.448 with 11 steals for the Honolulu Sharks in the winter. He was second in Hawaii Winter Baseball in swipes, three behind Antoan Richardson, and among the leaders in average. Yokogawa then played 55 games with a .229/.285/.336 batting line in 2008. He was Rakuten's #4 outfielder behind Teppei Tsuchiya, Rick Short and Toshiya Nakashima.

He spent most of the next two seasons in the minors and he only got 24 at-bats with the big club. Yokogawa led the Eastern League in OBP (.396) in 2010. He got some chances because Tsuchiya struggled in 2011, and he had a .224/.280/.327 batting line in 94 games that season. Yokogawa then went 3-for-20 in 2012, and he was traded with Suguru Ino to the Yomiuri Giants for Hiroki Nakazawa and Norihito Kaneto. However, Yokogawa only played 16 games for their top team in 2014 before he announced his retirement in 2015. He was Yomiuri's batting coach in 2022.

Overall, Yokogawa hit .216/.278/.313 with 86 hits and 9 homers in 6 seasons in NPB.
