Biographical Information[edit]

Suguru Ino played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Ino was drafted by the Rakuten Golden Eagles in the 7th round of the 2005 NPB draft, and he only got 3 at-bats for the big club in his first 2 seasons. He was 2-for-22 in 2008, and he didn't reach the top team in 2009. Ino then hit .206/.206/.206 in 2010, and he was 1-for-6 in 2011. After staying in the minors for a year, the Golden Eagles traded him with Fuminori Yokogawa to the Yomiuri Giants for Hiroki Nakazawa and Norihito Kaneto. He was 0-for-6 in 2013, and he was released in 2014. The Yakult Swallows signed him, and he only played 9 games combined in the next two seasons. He was the main backup catcher behind Yuhei Nakamura in 2018, and he recorded a .144/.189/.178 batting line in a career-high 47 games. Ino went 2-for-10 in 2019, and he was 2-for-19 in 2020. He announced his retirement after the 2020 season, and he became the battery coach of the Swallows in 2025. Ino returned to the Golden Eagles as their new battery coach in 2026.

Overall, Ino hit .142/.175/.172 with 29 hits in 10 seasons in NPB.
