Toshiya Nakashima played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.
Nakashima was drafted by the Orix BlueWave in the 8th round of the 2002 NPB draft, and he only got 10 at-bats combined for the top team in his first two seasons. He was assigned to the Rakuten Golden Eagles when the BlueWave merged with the Kintetsu Buffaloes in 2005, and he missed the next two years due to shoulder injury. Nakashima went 6-for-15 in 2007, and he played 81 games with a solid .315/.397/.466 batting line in 2008. He hit .279/.333/.346 in 2009, but he had a 1-for-7 record in 2010. Nakashima struggled again in 2011 as his batting line was .194/.227/.319, then he recorded a .250/.301/.271 batting line in 2012. He hit .232/.284/.317 in 2013, and he went 1-for-6 in the 2013 Nippon Series; the Golden Eagles beat the Yomiuri Giants in 7 games. Nakashima only played 4 games in 2014, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Nakashima hit .264/.323/.356 with 151 hits and 9 homers in 9 seasons in NPB.
