Biographical Information[edit]
Frank Plesac has pitched in the independent leagues and for the Croatian national team. He is the nephew of Dan Plesac and brother of Zach Plesac. [1] He is thus the nephew of Joe Plesac and cousin of Blaze Alexander and CJ Alexander.
He was 2-7 with a 5.98 ERA as a college freshman, tying for the Crossroads League in losses. Making big strides, he improved to 6-5, 3.24 with 13 BB in 86 IP as a sophomore in 2022. He tied for 5th in the league in wins was 6th with 83 K. In '23, he had a 4-6, 3.59 record, but struck out 93 to 18 walks in 80 1/3 innings. He was one K behind leader Graham Kollen. He went 5-6 with a 4.56 ERA as a senior, K'ing 90 in 79 IP. He was 3rd in strikeouts.
Turning pro that summer, he was 3-0 with a save and a 4.01 ERA in 37 relief outings for the Joliet Slammers. He went 3-1 with a 4.26 ERA for the 2025 Slammers. He then joined Croatia for the 2025 European Championship. Starting their opener against Austria, he turned in an excellent start (6 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 7 K, 0 R) but was matched by Mo Hackl. Anthony Susac took over. He also faced the champion Dutch national team and did a creditable performance, again going six innings and yielding 5 hits, 3 walks and 2 runs (1 earned) while striking out 3, versus a team with two MLB veterans in the lineup. He lost a 3-1 game to Lars Huijer. He tied Gabriele Quattrini for 7th in the event in IP and led Croatia's qualifiers in ERA. [2]
