Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Floyd Robinson played nine years in the bigs during the 1960s, mainly for the Chicago White Sox. Robinson got a late start to his major league career, starting play in the minors in 1954, advancing to the Pacific Coast League level prior to going into military service with the Marines in 1957 & 1958. He returned to the PCL in 1960, getting a callup from the White Sox in August of that year. He made an immediate impact in 1961, hitting over .300 and finishing 3rd in Rookie of the Year voting. In 1962 Robinson again played well, finishing among American League leaders for batting average (3rd, .312) and runs batted in (4th, 109).

Robinson is a cousin of Tommie Reynolds.
