Enrique Carta has pitched in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team.
He was signed by the Boston Red Sox. In 2023, he was 3-1 with a 3.48 ERA for the DSL Red Sox Blue with 22 K but 18 BB in 20 2/3 IP. In 2024, he pitched for both the DSL Red Sox Blue and DSL Red Sox Blue, going a combined 3-0 with 2 saves, a 2.32 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 31 IP. He thus was 6-1 with 2 saves and a 2.79 ERA in his 27 minor league outings. Released by Boston, he pitched once for Venezuela when they won Bronze in the 2025 Bolivarian Games. Relieving Carlos Aular in the 3rd with a 4-1 deficit against champion Colombia, he went 1-2-3 against Carlos Arroyo, Daniel Vellojin and MLB vet Dilson Herrera, the last via strikeout. He got Jesús Marriaga and Guillermo Quintana to open the 4th then things unraveled as Fabián Pertuz doubled, Brayan Buelvas and Tito Polo both walked and he then walked Dayan Frías to force in a run. Cristian Fermin relieved and let in an inherited run. [1]
