Biographical Information[edit]
Ehren Wassermann was a right-handed reliever for the Chicago White Sox.
Wasserman was signed by scout Warren Hughes for the White Sox as an undrafted free agent in 2003. He posted a 2.34 ERA over five minor league seasons through 2007. He was promoted to Chicago in July of 2007, and after going 1-1 with a 2.74 ERA in 33 games, solidified a spot in the bullpen. Wassermann had marginal velocity on his pitches, but his low arm slot translated to success in the major leagues.
In 2008 he spent part of the season at Charlotte, posting a 1.15 ERA in 32 games, with a 3-0 record and 7 saves.
Wasserman did not allow a home run in his two major-league seasons, only the second modern era pitcher to do so in a career of 50 or more games. Ehren's 57 games pitched are six more than the first pitcher with such a career, left-hander Johnny Johnson, who also pitched two seasons, for the 1944 New York Yankees and the 1945 Chicago White Sox. But Johnson pitched more than twice as many innings as Wasserman, 96 1/3 to 42 2/3.
Wassermann was a pitching coach for the Windy City ThunderBolts in 2012 and GCL Twins in 2013-2014.
