Biographical Information[edit]
Ed Sobczak was an outfielder in minor league baseball whose professional career ran from 1949 to 1958. Born in Pittsburgh, he attended Langley High School and later Michigan State University. He played for the San Jose Red Sox from 1949 through 1954, with additional 1952 stops for the Magic Valley Cowboys and the Birmingham Barons. After time away from professional baseball, he returned to play for the Las Vegas Wranglers in 1957 and the Salinas Packers in 1958.
Sobczak later served as head baseball coach at San Jose State University from 1957 through 1969.[1] He died in Danville, CA.
