Biographical Information[edit]
David Stokes played in the Detroit Tigers system in 2008, having been taken by the club in the 28th round of the 2008 amateur draft. The tall right-hander was signed by scout Bill Buck. Pitching for the New York-Penn League's Oneonta Tigers, he went 3-7 with a 5.74 ERA in 14 starts. In 64 1/3 innings, he allowed 90 hits and 22 walks (1.741 WHIP), while striking out 43 batters. He was second in the league in hits allowed, behind Robert Bono's 97, second in home runs allowed (9), behind Kyle McPherson's 10 and he tied Bono for second in runs allowed (53), behind Antonio Noguera's 56. On June 30, he took part in a 7-inning no-hitter against the Lowell Spinners, serving as the starting pitcher. He was replaced by Anthony Shawler, who was replaced by Tyler Stohr. He volutarily retired on February 2, 2009.
