Biographical Information

Daniel McKinney attended the University of Michigan on a baseball scholarship but never played professionally. Instead, he went into coaching. His first stop was at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA in 2017 and 2018. He then served as a volunteer assistant and pitching coach at Miami University in 2018, then was at the University of Akron in 2019-20 and at Oakland University in 2021. He became pitching coach at Southeast Missouri State University in 2022.

He was then hired by the New York Mets and was the pitching coach for the St. Lucie Mets of the Florida State League in 2023, the Brooklyn Cyclones of the South Atlantic League in 2024, and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies of the Eastern League in 2025. In 2026, he moved up to the parent Mets as assistant pitching coach.
