Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Dan Phillips played in the Colorado Rockies system from 1999 to 2004. He peaked at Double-A.

He was taken by the club in the 15th round of the 1999 amateur draft, a few picks ahead of pitcher Dennis Sarfate and also ahead of future Cy Young Award winner Jake Peavy. He proved an effective piece from the get-go. In his first campaign, he had 10 home runs and 53 RBI in 71 games for the Portland Rockies, then he followed that with 13 homers, 45 RBI, 39 steals and 32 doubles for the Asheville Tourists. With the Salem Avalanche in 2001, he had 16 home runs, 68 RBI, 11 steals and 35 doubles. He was second in the Carolina League in home runs, behind Doug Gredvig's 20. He tied Gredvig for second in doubles, behind Garrett Atkins' 43. After a down year in 2002, he rebounded to hit 18 homers with 73 RBI, 13 steals and 32 doubles for the Visalia Oaks in 2003, although at that point he was at an advanced age for A ball. His line slipped to .203/.222/.279 with two teams in 2004 to wrap up his pro career.

Overall, Phillips hit .261/.306/.423 with 62 home runs, 277 RBI and 83 stolen bases in 566 games.
