Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Dan Osterbrock played from 2008 to 2015, peaking at Double-A. He was taken by the Minnesota Twins in the 7th round of the 2008 amateur draft, a few picks ahead of outfielder Eric Thames. He was signed by scout Jeremy Booth.

He began his career by going 7-2 with a 3.00 ERA and 104 strikeouts in 75 innings for the Elizabethton Twins in 2008, earning an Appalachian League Post-Season All-Star selection and the league's Pitcher of the Year honor. He led the league in strikeouts and innings pitched, and was one of just a handful of hurlers to toss a complete game. He was second in wins, behind Brad Tippett's 8. In 2009, he had 140 Ks in 137 innings for the Beloit Snappers, placing second in the Midwest League in Ks, behind Simón Castro's 157, and runs allowed (95, behind Sam Runion's 106). In 2010, he had perhaps the best full year of his career, as he went 9-9 with a 2.65 ERA in 25 games (23 starts) between Beloit and the Fort Myers Miracle; he was a MiLB.com Organization All-Star that year and on May 1, he tossed a 7-inning no-hitter against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. He never again had such success, though he went 11-4 for the independent Lancaster Barnstormers in 2014.

Overall, Osterbrock went 40-33 with a 3.82 ERA in 121 games (107 starts). In 614 2/3 innings, he allowed 646 hits and 137 walks (1.274 WHIP), while striking out 508 batters.
