Biographical Information[edit]
Utility player Dallas Burke began his collegiate playing career at the University of Iowa (2009-2010) where he was named a Freshman All-Big Ten selection at catcher in 2009. He then transferred to Missouri Southern State University and helped the Lions win their first conference championship in 21 years. In three seasons at Missouri Southern, Burke was named an All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association selection twice and is ranked No. 10 in school history for career batting average and No. 12 in career fielding percentage. Burke graduated in 2013 with a degree in History. After college, he played independent professional baseball for two summers. He spent 2013 with the Roswell Invaders in the Pecos League, hitting .348/.430/.545 in 21 games. In 2014, with the Cologne Cardinals in the Baseball-Bundesliga, he batted .388/.500/.550. He was 7th in the Bundesliga-1 north in average (between Tucker White and Björn Schonlau), tied Schonlau and Maurice Wilhelm for 7th with 31 hits, 6th in slugging (between Wilhelm and Bradley Roper-Hubbert), 4th in OBP (between White and Moritz Buttgereit), tied for 5th in errors (8) but second in percentage thrown out stealing (33.3%, behind Vincent Ahrens). While in Cologne, Germany, Burke also worked camps at MLB Academies across Europe to help develop the game throughout the continent.[1]
Burke quickly moved into coaching after college. He was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Black Hawk College Braves from 2014-2016. Burke moved up to Division 1 baseball in 2017 as a volunteer assistant coach for the Bowling Green State University Falcons. He spent the following season in the same role with the West Virginia University Mountaineers. From 2019-2023 Burke was the volunteer assistant coach for the Pennsylvania State University Nittany Lions where he worked primarily with catchers and hitters. He then worked as an assistant coach for the Dartmouth College Big Green in 2024.
The New York Mets hired Burke as a bench coach for the FCL Mets in 2025 and Brooklyn Cyclones in 2026.
