Biographical Information[edit]

Chang-sik Song pitched in the KBO for 13 years.

Song was drafted by the Hanwha Eagles in the first round of the 2004 KBO draft, and he was 8-7 with a 5.13 ERA in his first season. He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2005, and he missed the entire season. Song then had a 5.29 ERA in 29 games in 2006, and he missed most of the 2007 season due to Buerger's disease. He then announced his retirement, and he became a coach for Sekwang High School from May 2008 to 2010. Song returned to the KBO mound in August 2010, and he recorded a 4.08 ERA in 12 games. He went 4-3 with a 6.34 ERA in 2011, and he notched 12 holds with a 2.91 ERA in 47 games in 2012.

The Cheongju native was named the new closer for Hanwha in 2013, and he collected 20 saves with a 3.42 ERA in 57 games, and he was 6th in saves (tied with Anthony Swarzak). Song slumped to a 7.45 ERA in 26 games in 2014, and he went 8-7 with a 6.44 ERA and 11 holds in 64 appearances in 2015. He led the league in homers in 2015, tied with Won-sam Jang. Song was 8-5 with a 4.98 ERA in 2016, then he had a 5-6 record with a 6.63 ERA in 2017. He only pitched 13 games combined in the next three seasons, and he announced his retirement in 2020.

Overall, Song was 43-41 with a 5.31 ERA, collected 51 holds and 22 saves in 431 appearances, struck out 548 and pitched 707 1/3 innings in 13 seasons in the KBO.
