Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Chad Patrick made his major league debut for the Milwaukee Brewers in a game in which they gave up 9 homers and 20 runs to the New York Yankees, the 9 homers being a Yankees team record. In the game played at New Yankee Stadium on March 29, 2025, he was the second Brewers pitcher to make his debut, following Connor Thomas who had done so in the 3rd inning as his team's first relief pitcher. He came in in the 7th and gave up the final two runs allowed by his team in his inning of work, those coming on a two-run blast by pinch-hitter Oswaldo Peraza following a walk. At least, he did better than Thomas, who surrendered three homers and gave up eight runs in his two innings of work. After he left the game, position player Jake Bauers came in to pitch the final inning - and did not give up a run. His second outing on April 1st was memorable as well, as he made his first major league start after being bedridden with illness the day before, and ended up pitching five scoreless innings against the Kansas City Royals to earn his first career win; it was also his team's first win of the year.

He was the first player to be drafted in the history of Purdue University Northwest, formed the merger of two former branch campuses of Purdue University. He was taken by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 4th round of the 2021 amateur draft. He was then traded twice before making his major league debut, first going from the Diamondbacks to the Oakland Athletics in return for Jace Peterson on July 31, 2023, and then from the Athletics to the Brewers in return for 3B Abraham Toro on November 15th that same year. He was the International League Pitcher of the Year in 2024 when he won the Pitching Triple Crown in the circuit by going 14-1, 2,90 in 26 games, with 145 strikeouts. The following year, he became the first alumnus of Purdue Northwest to reach the majors.
