Monasterios pitched 7 games, 3 of which were starts, for the GCL Yankees when he was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in the Bobby Abreu trade on July 30, 2006. Following the deal he was assigned to the GCL Phillies, where he made 3 more starts and one relief appearance. Carlos started the 2007 season with the Lakewood Blue Claws where he went 11-11 with a 4.62 ERA. In 2009, he made the Florida State League All-Star team with the Clearwater Threshers, for whom he went 5-6, 3.73 in 35 games. He was selected by the New York Mets in the 2009 Rule V draft after the season, but they immediately sold him to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Monasterios made his major league debut with the Dodgers on April 5, 2010, pitching a perfect inning in relief against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He pitched 32 times for the Dodgers, including 13 starts, going 3-5, 4.38 and logging 88 1/3 innings. It was his only season in the major leagues, however.
