Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Cameron Bayne played professionally from 2009 to 2014, peaking at Triple-A (4 IP).
He was drafted twice. Initially, he was taken by the Cincinnati Reds in the 49th round of the 2006 amateur draft, one pick after future star Paul Goldschmidt, but opted not to sign. He was then taken by the Chicago White Sox in the 13th round of the 2009 amateur draft, a couple picks after first baseman Jake Goebbert, inking a contract. He was signed by scout Mike Baker.
He won double-digit games twice. In 2010, he went 12-9 with a 3.60 ERA in 27 games (26 starts) for the Kannapolis Intimidators and in 2011, he went 14-9 with a 3.86 ERA in 27 starts between the Winston-Salem Dash, Birmingham Barons and Triple-A Charlotte Knights. In 2010, he led the South Atlantic League in wins, innings pitched (165) and hits allowed (174). In 2011, he led the Carolina League in wins and was second in innings pitched (148, 1/3 of an inning behind #1 Chris Masters). In 2012, he tied Dae-Eun Rhee for second in the Southern League in earned runs allowed (76), behind Jake Thompson's 77. He stayed in the White Sox system through 2012 and played in independent ball in 2013 and 2014.
Overall, he went 37-36 with a 4.82 ERA in 124 games (86 starts). In 549 1/3 innings, he allowed 610 hits and 202 walks (1.478 WHIP), while striking out 320 batters.
