Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Buddy Kennedy shares a birthplace with superstar OF Mike Trout and the two have since become close friends. He is also the grandson of former major league infielder Don Money, who was present when he made his debut with the Arizona Diamondbacks on June 17, 2022 against the Minnesota Twins. Starting at DH that day, Buddy did his grandpa proud, going 1 for 3 with a walk in a 7-2 win, the hit coming in the 5th inning off Devin Smeltzer.

He played for three different major league teams in 2025: the Philadelphia Phillies for 4 games (he went 0 for 7); the Toronto Blue Jays for 2 (1 for 5); and the Los Angeles Dodgers for 7 (1 for 17). All three teams made the postseason, and when the Blue Jays joined the Dodgers in the 2025 World Series, he was guaranteed a ring no matter the outcome, as he had appeared in at least one game for both teams. Pitcher Jose Urena was in the same situation. For the record, he was back as a member of the Blue Jays organization by then, having been signed as a free agent on September 1st for a second go-around after having been outrighted to the minors by L.A. a couple of days earlier. He had finished the year in AAA with the Buffalo Bisons.

He was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks in the 5th round of the 2017 amateur draft, out of Millville Senior High School, which Trout also attended.
