Biographical Information[edit]

Middle infielder Bryce Ortega played in the Washington Nationals system in 2011 and 2012. He was taken by the club in the 41st round of the 2011 amateur draft and was signed by scout Mitch Sokol.

With the Auburn Doubledays his first pro season, he hit .314/.410/.392 with no home runs, 21 RBI and 23 steals in 56 games. He was second in the New York-Penn League in on-base percentage, behind Daniel Muno's .466. He was also a Mid-Season All-Star and a MiLB.com Organization All-Star. He played for the GCL Nationals (1 game) and Hagerstown Suns (78 games) in 2012, hitting .255/.358/.335 with 1 home run, 27 RBI and 15 steals in 79 games. Between them, he hit .280/.380/.359 with 1 home run, 48 RBI, 97 runs scored and 38 steals in 135 games.
