Team History[edit]

The Gulf Coast Nationals, also known as the GCL Nationals, are a rookie-level affiliate of the Washington Nationals. They were formed in 2005, after the Montréal Expos relocated to become the Washington Nationals; their GCL affiliate changed names, from the GCL Expos to the Nationals. The team plays in the East division of the Gulf Coast League. The Nationals play at Nationals Complex in Viera, FL.

On July 23, 2017, the GCL Nationals performed a rare feat as their pitchers tossed a seven-inning no-hitter in both ends of a doubleheader against the GCL Marlins. Joan Baez (6 innings) and Jose Jimenez (1 inning) combined for a 4-0 in the first game, and Jared Johnson (4 innings) and Gilberto Chu (3 innings) did the job in the second game, a 1-0 win.
