Biographical Information[edit]

infielder Bruce Schreiber played in the Pittsburgh Pirates system from 1989 to 1994. Though he briefly reached Triple-A, he never ascended to the majors. He was signed by Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent.

His career was bookended by impressive numbers. In 1989, his first campaign, he hit .349/.398/.513 with 2 home runs and 38 RBI in 64 games for the Princeton Pirates. His 8 triples tied Al De Los Santos for the Appalachian League lead while he was third in average; he was named the Appy All-Star 2B. In 1990, he hit .290/.336/.373 with 4 home runs and 48 RBI in 134 games for the Salem Buccaneers. He led the Carolina League in plate appearances (606), at-bats (552) and hits (160). In 1994, his final campaign, he hit .356/.420/.511 in 14 games for the Carolina Mudcats. He reached Triple-A for the first time in 1992, collecting just 2 hits in 18 at-bats for the Buffalo Bisons. He returned to that level briefly in 1993.

Overall, Schreiber hit .273/.320/.359 with 11 home runs, 168 RBI and 24 steals in 552 gams over 6 seasons.
