Biographical Information[edit]

Brian Kenny is a sportscaster who has worked for ESPN and the MLB Network, where he is known as the network's resident sabrmetrician, explaining the latest developments in baseball analytics so that fans can follow the thinking of modern-day baseball teams.

He began his journalism career while in college, working for the New York Institute of Technology's news program before joining a number of local news organizations on Long Island. One of his assignments was as play-by-play announcer for the Hudson Valley Renegades. He joined ESPN in 1997, forst working on SportsCenter and on boxing programs. In 2011, he moved to the MLB Network, appearing on the programs MLB Tonight and MLB Now. In 2017, he hosted the Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cooperstown, NY for the first time, a gig he would then reprise on an annual basis.

He is the author of Ahead of the Curve: Inside the Baseball Revolution (2016) and seeks to explain the development of sabermetrics and analytics as used by baseball front offices.

He was named a recipient of the Henry Chadwick Award in 2026, in recognition of his work to explain sabermetrics to a wider audience.
