Biographical Information[edit]

Brian Jones caught in the minor leagues and for the USA national baseball team.

Jones began his professional career with the Cincinnati Reds in 2000, and he hit .230/.269/.418 in 41 games for the Dayton Dragons that season. He recorded a .230/.273/.361 batting line in 2001, then he left the Reds organization. Jones went to the Elmira Pioneers, and he crushed 11 homers with a .284/.369/.480 batting line in 2002. He recorded a .307/.390/.494 batting line with 10 homers in 2003, finishing 10th in the Northeast League in average, 5th in OBP (between Carlos Sepulveda and Darren Blakely), 7th in slugging (between Frank Charles and Sepulveda), 5th in OPS (between Sepulveda and Travis Bailey), tied Craig Lewis for 7th in doubles (26), tied for 9th in homers and tied Vic Davilla for 3rd with 42 walks. Charles beat him out as the All-Star catcher. He represented the USA in the 2003 Baseball World Cup; he was 1 for 15 with a walk, two runs and a RBI, while splitting backstop duties with Jeff Goldbach. Jones hit .248/.331/.409 with 12 homers in 2004 for the Brockton Rox (tying Brad Hargreaves for 9th in the NEL with 40 walks), and he had a .262/.376/.359 batting line for the Rox in 2005.

Overall, Jones hit .266/.348/.426 with 409 hits and 47 homers in 6 seasons as a professional player.
