Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Braden Shipley was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks and scout John Bartsch in the first round of the 2013 amateur draft with the 15th overall pick. He soon signed for a $2.25 million bonus and made his pro debut on July 2nd for the Hillsboro Hops, throwing 2 scoreless innings against the Eugene Emeralds.

Braden made his major league debut with the Diamondbacks on July 25, 2016, starting against the Milwaukee Brewers. Things did not go well as he gave up three homers, one to Scooter Gennett in the 1st, one to Jonathan Villar in the 4th, and a three-run shot by Martin Maldonado in the 6th that ended his outing and inflicted him with a 7-2 loss. He did collect his first hit in the game, a double off Chase Anderson to lead off the 3rd, and came in to score his team's first run on a single by Jean Segura. On August 11th, he had a great game against the New York Mets as he pitched 7 scoreless innings, allowing only 3 hits in a 9-0 win; he also collected his first career RBI on a single in the 4th and promptly followed that by stealing his first base as a rattled Noah Syndergaard was paying him absolutely no mind.

Shipley was bullpen coach of the ACL Mariners in 2023.
