Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Brad Lord had an infinite ERA after his major league debut for the Washington Nationals against the Philadelphia Phillies on March 30, 2025. He came in to pitch in the 9th inning with Washington holding a 5-0 lead, but he allowed all three batters he faced to reach base: Edmundo Sosa led off with a single and made it to second on an error by RF Dylan Crews; he then walked Brandon Marsh and pinch-hitter Kody Clemens to load the bases before manager Dave Martinez called on closer Kyle Finnegan to get out of the jam. He did so, but not before Sosa scored on a grounder by Rafael Marchan.
Brad was drafted by the Nationals in the 22nd round of the 2022 amateur draft, out of the University of South Florida. He made it to AAA in just two minor league seasons, doing so with the Rochester Red Wings at the end of 2024. That year, he went a combined 10-4, 2.43 in 25 starts spread out among three teams - the Class A Wilmington Blue Rocks, the AA Harrisburg Senators, and Rochester. He was the AA Eastern League's Pitcher of the Month in both May and June and was named a post-season All-Star. He made the Nationals' staff out of spring training the following year.
