Biographical Information[edit]

Bill Pecota was a pinch-hitter and utility player who spent most of his career playing for the Kansas City Royals. Pecota was traded to the New York Mets in the deal that sent Bret Saberhagen to New York. After a season with the Mets he signed with the Atlanta Braves, where he spent his final two seasons as the team's top pinch hitter.

Pecota is perhaps best known today as the inspiration for the player forecasting system PECOTA.
