Biographical Information

Ben Simon has played in the minors and for the Israeli national team.

He was All-Conference in high school baseball and third-team All-Conference in basketball. Struggling as a freshman in college, he was 1-4 with a 8.44 ERA but he improved to 2-1 with two saves and a 3.48 ERA as a sophomore. His junior year, he was 1-3 with 7 saves, a 3.20 ERA and 32 K in 25 1/3 IP. He tied Carter Lovasz for 4th in the Colonial Athletic Association in saves.

The New York Mets took him in the 13th round of the 2023 amateur draft; the scout was Daniel Coles. He split the summer between the FCL Mets (1-0, 0 R in 1 2/3 IP) and St. Lucie Mets (9.64 ERA in 4 G). In 2024, he went 2-3 with a 4.04 ERA for the Brooklyn Cyclones. The next year, he was with Brooklyn (4-0, 2 Sv, 3.86 in 27 G) and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (1-1, 1.06 in 11 G), striking out 60 in 54 1/3 IP. He tied Saul García for 8th in the Mets chain in appearances.

Suiting up for Israel in the 2026 World Baseball Classic (the team was almost entirely American, with Assaf Lowengart being the lone Israel-born player). He had the tough call of starting on the hill against title-bound Venezuela. He walked Ronald Acuña Jr. and struck out tourney MVP Maikel García but it went downhill fast as Luis Arráez doubled, Salvador Pérez singled and Eugenio Suárez homered. Charlie Beilenson then took over and Simon took the loss to Enmanuel De Jesús. His other appearance went better and consisted solely of two of the Three True Outcomes. Relieving Tommy Kahnle in the 9th with a 6-2 lead over the Kingdom of the Netherlands, he walked Hendrik Clementina, struck out Delano Selassa, walked Chad Tromp, struck out Dayson Croes, walked Druw Jones and got Ceddanne Rafaela on a four-slider at-bat.
