Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Ben Kudrna was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 2nd round of the 2021 amateur draft. They did not have to search very far to find him, as he was attending a high school in the Kansas suburbs of Kansas City, MO.

After signing with the Royals, he began his pro career in 2022 with the Columbia Fireflies of the Carolina League, going 2-5, 3.48 in 17 starts and pitching 72 1/3 innings. He was named an organizational All-Star after the season. In 2023, he started the season at Columbia, then was promoted to the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Midwest League after 14 games. In 22 games total between the two teams (21 starts), he went 5-7, 4.22 with 104 strikeouts in 108 2/3 innings. In 2024, he started off with 14 starts at Quad Cities, then was again promoted in mid-season, this time to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals of the AA Texas League. His line was 6-8, 4.21 in 23 games and 115 1/3 innings. He was named to the American League team for the 2024 Futures Game.
