Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Beck Way was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 4th round of the truncated 2020 amateur draft, out of Northwest Florida State College, He had transferred there from Belmont Abbey College after sitting out the 2019 season, but his only season for his new school was quickly shut down by the COVID-19 pandemic.

He made his professional debut in 2021, after the minor leagues also resumed after a one-year break caused by the pandemic, pitching a total of 19 games as a starter for the Tampa Tarpons and Hudson Valley Renegades, going 4-3, 3.98. On July 27, 2022, after starting the year at Hudson Valley, he was traded to the Kansas City Royals as part of the return for OF Andrew Benintendi (two other prospects, T.J. Sikkema and Chandler Champlain were also included in the deal). He finished the year with the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Midwest League, and his combined line was 8-8, 3.75 in 22 games and 108 innings, with 127 strikeouts. In 2023, he spent a full season in the AA Texas League with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, but had a rough go of it, finishing at 2-9, 6.67 in 28 games. He returned to Northwest Arkansas at the start of 2024 and did better, going 6-3, 3.88 in 47 games as a full-time reliever. He also pitched one inning with the AAA Omaha Storm Chasers that year.

In 2025,he split the season equally between Northwest Arkansas and Omaha, with 23 games at each stop, but finished at 4-6, 5.93, allowing 77 hits and 42 walks in just 74 1/3 innings. In 2026, he was 5-3, 4.50, with 1 save in 19 games when he was called up to Kansas City on June 2nd. he made his debut three days later, pitching one scoreless inning of relief in a 5-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins.
