Biographical Information[edit]

Audrius Beliauskas has played for the Lithuanian national team in at least three decades.

He was with Lithuania by the 2008 European Championship Qualifier (but possibly was with them prior to that), hitting .267/.353/.333 and fielding .867. [1] In the 2011 European Championship Qualifier, he batted .273/.385/.273 with 5 runs in 3 games. He tied for 4th in runs (behind Oren Gal, Aaron Hornostaj and Brad Marcelino), tied for 7th in assists (6) and tied Ryan Trask for 6th in errors (2). [2] He slipped to .200/.227/.250 in the 2013 B-Level European Championship and was 9th in assists (11). [3]

In the 2015 B-Level European Championship, he was already 34 years old and hit .182/.308/.182. [4] He was 0 for 4 in the 2018 European Championship Playoff as Lithuania lost a spot in the 2019 European Championship to Austria. [5] He produced at a .200/.478/.200 clip with 9 runs and 7 walks in 5 games in the 2019 B-Level European Championship and was 1-0 with a 7.71 ERA, beating Adam Zacko and Slovakia. He handled 6 chances error-free. He was one run behind leader Martin Brunegraf and one walk behind leader Ievgenii Poliakov. Lithuania won to move on to the 2019 European Championship Playoff. [6] In that playoff, he was 1 for 6 with a RBI as they lost to Israel; he and Mantas Cernauskas had the only RBI for the team. [7]

Beliauskas was past 40 when he slashed .438/.438/.500 with 4 runs in 4 games in the 2021 European Championship Qualifier, handling 5 chances without an error. He had a 4-hit game against champion Greece. [8] The team's senior member, he did not bat and was 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA in the 2022 European Championship Qualifier, beating Switzerland's Thierry Burkhardt. [9] He was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run when Lithuania prevailed in the 2024 European Championship Qualifier to make the 2025 European Championship, their first European Championship after numerous near-misses. [10] Despite being 45 years old for the 2025 Euros, he was barely Lithuania's oldest player as Cernauskas was 44. Hitting 8th and playing third in their first European Championship game ever, he grounded out and struck out against minor league veteran Noah Zavolas (pitching for Greece) before being pinch-hit for Andrius Stravinskas Jr., the son of Beliauskas's long-time teammate. He finished the event 0-for-4 with a walk and a run; his walk came off Switzerland's James Sanders, who was a few months older than him! He handled one putout at the hot corner. [11]
